Laragh
McMonagle has been designing and creating unique pieces
of jewellery for the last five years.
She
takes her inspiration from the natural world, using
a variety of materials ; silver gold, gemstones and
pearls are combined along with shells ribbons and glass.
Also
featured are silver flowers and a variety of beads,
and miniature sculptures representing creatures such
as turtles and dragonflies and more.
Texture
adds another dimension; clusters of rough and faceted
stones are interwoven with silver flowers, shells and
birds. Multiple strands of tiny river pearls and seed
beads are intertwined among unpolished nuggets of semi
precious stones, which gives a unique quality and depth
to each design.
The
smaller pieces are intended to be worn as jewellery,
while some of the more elaborate pieces are works of
art in themselves.
Laragh
also makes personal and uniquely commissioned items
on request.
While largely self taught, she has attended workshops
in Britain and Houston, Texas. She won a prize at the
International London Jewellery Show for piece titled
Something Blooming.
